Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use a minimal set of cookies to operate and improve the Cronic website (cronic.app) and web console (console.cronic.app). This page describes exactly what we use and how you can control them. For the mobile app, see Section 6.
2. Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)
These cookies are set by the web console when you sign in. They are required for authentication and cannot be disabled while using the console; they do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive. They are httpOnly and secure, meaning they cannot be accessed by JavaScript and are only sent over HTTPS. This website (cronic.app) sets no essential cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
auth_token | Authenticates your session | 7 days |
refresh_token | Renews your access token without re-login | 30 days |
3. Analytics and Monitoring (Consent Required)
These services help us understand how Cronic is used and investigate errors. Under the ePrivacy Directive, they require your consent before anything is stored on your device.
| Service | Purpose | Storage | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostHog | Product and page view analytics, page performance (Core Web Vitals) | Cookie and localStorage ph_* | 1 year |
| Cronic (signup origin) | Remembers your first visit source (utm parameters, referring site) to learn how you discovered Cronic | Cookie cronic_acq (cronic.app and console.cronic.app) | 30 days |
| Sentry | Session replay (masked) for debugging | sessionStorage (no cookie) | End of browser session |
Until you accept, PostHog stores and reads nothing on your device (it runs in memory only, see cookieless audience measurement below), and Sentry records no session replay. Sentry error reports (without replay) are sent in all cases to keep the service reliable, on the basis of our legitimate interest; Sentry sets no cookies.
Cookieless audience measurement
Until you accept, or if you decline, we still count visits to cronic.app anonymously, without cookies or any storage on your device: pages viewed, buttons clicked, page performance, referring site, device and browser type. To count the visitors of a given day, our provider PostHog computes an identifier on its servers from your IP address, your browser and a key that changes every day and is then deleted; the IP address is not kept. This identifier cannot recognise you from one day to the next or follow you on other sites, and it is never linked to your Cronic account. These statistics are only used to measure this site's audience, on our behalf alone, and are kept for at most 24 months.
This measurement follows the conditions set by the CNIL (the French data protection authority) for consent-exempt audience measurement. To object, turn on your browser's "Global Privacy Control" or "Do Not Track" signal: nothing is then sent until you accept analytics.
4. Payment Cookies
When you subscribe on the web, you are redirected to a checkout page hosted by Stripe, which may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. These are considered strictly necessary for the payment transaction.
- Stripe — See the Stripe Cookie Policy for details.
5. Cookie Consent
When you first visit cronic.app or the web console, a consent banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can choose to:
- Accept — Enables PostHog analytics and Sentry session replay. Your choice is stored in localStorage for 12 months.
- Reject — Only essential cookies are used. Analytics remain disabled; only the cookieless audience measurement counts the visit anonymously.
Your choice is stored per site and per browser. To change it, clear this site's data (or its localStorage) in your browser settings: the banner will appear again on your next visit.
6. Mobile App
The Cronic mobile app does not use browser cookies. Analytics in the app are controlled by your account's consent setting: analytics are optional and off until you agree (at sign-up or when the app asks you once), and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Privacy & Analytics by turning off the analytics toggle. This stops product analytics from the app and from our servers for your account.
7. Local Storage
We store your theme preference (light or dark mode) and your consent choice in your browser's localStorage. These are not cookies and are never sent to our servers.
8. What We Do Not Use
Cronic does not use:
- Marketing or advertising cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Google Analytics
This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts. This sets no cookie, but your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
9. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for controlling cookies:
- Consent banner — We ask for your consent before setting analytics cookies. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser and choose again.
- Browser settings — You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in to the web console.
- Withdraw consent — In the app, use Settings → Privacy & Analytics. You can also contact us at privacy@cronic.team.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this cookie policy if we change the cookies we use. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
