Everything you need to get the most out of the Cronic app. Can't find your answer? Email support@cronic.team.
Getting started
The Cronic mobile apps (iOS and Android) are in private beta: email contact@cronic.team to join. Everyone can use the web console at console.cronic.app. You can create an account with your email address and a password, or sign in with Google. When you sign up, you accept the Terms of Service. Usage analytics are optional: you are asked once, and can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Analytics.
Forgot your password? Tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen to receive a reset code by email.
All settings are in the Profile tab.
Adding sources
Cronic reads the sources you choose. Open Settings → Sources Management and add a source. After the 14-day trial, the Free plan includes up to 3 sources; Premium removes the limit.
Newsletters by forwarding (any email provider)
- Set a username in Settings → Security & Sessions. This gives you your personal Cronic email address.
- Find the address in your account information (“Your Cronic Email”) or under Add source → Email Account → Forward Manually.
- Subscribe to newsletters with that address, or set up forwarding in your email provider (Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Gmail…). Forwarded newsletters appear in your feed automatically.
Newsletters from Gmail
Choose Add source → Email Account and connect Gmail. Cronic scans your mailbox to find your newsletters, lets you select the ones to import, then keeps importing new issues as they arrive. Access is read-only: Cronic cannot send, delete or change your emails. You can disconnect Gmail in the app at any time, or revoke access from your Google Account.
Websites, RSS feeds, YouTube and podcasts
Choose Smart URL and paste any link: a website, an RSS feed, a YouTube channel or playlist, a newsletter page or a podcast. Cronic detects the best feed for you. Already use an RSS reader? Export an OPML file from it and use Import OPML in Sources Management to bring all your feeds at once.
Curated catalog
Use Browse Curated Sources to follow selected publishers, and Browse Podcasts to discover and subscribe to podcasts.
Daily brief, feed & agents
- Today shows the stories that matter most and your daily brief, written by AI from your sources. Filters let you switch between briefs, digests, “For You”, updates and agent results.
- Feed lists everything that arrives from your sources, with AI summaries.
- Library keeps your bookmarks, notes, liked and archived posts, reading history and topic watches.
- Agents run on the topics you give them, with your own instructions, and post their results in Today. Each run can also be turned into an audio episode.
- Your AI Profile (Settings) is what Cronic has learned about your interests. You can review, edit or reset it at any time.
AI summaries can contain mistakes: open the original article whenever a detail matters.
Listening & podcasts
- Listen reads articles aloud with AI voices, and can turn your news into a podcast-style episode.
- Audio digests: turn on “Audio Digests” in Settings → Notifications & Email to receive audio versions of your daily brief and weekly recap.
- Ask the hosts: while an episode plays, hold to talk or type a question. The hosts answer from your sources, then the show resumes. To ask by voice, allow microphone access when prompted (or later in your phone's settings).
The podcast is included in the 14-day trial; after that, a podcast for every brief is part of Premium. “Ask the hosts” is limited to 20 questions per day.
Notifications
Allow notifications when the app asks, then choose what you receive in Settings → Notifications & Email:
- Real-time alerts: new newsletters in your inbox, reading reminders.
- Smart notifications: must-read sources, breaking news detected by AI, the Sunday weekly recap, audio digests and topic watch updates.
- Daily digest: a selection of articles on the schedule you choose.
- Quiet hours: notifications are held during the hours you set and delivered when they end. Your time zone is detected from your device.
If you stop opening notifications, Cronic pauses sending for 72 hours to avoid cluttering your phone. You can change the language of notifications in the language settings.
Offline reading
Open Settings → Offline & Storage. All accounts get a basic offline cache. With Premium, you can automatically download your bookmarks and recent news (with images) for full offline reading, set how many articles to keep, and choose whether downloads use Wi-Fi only or mobile data too. You can clear the offline cache from the same screen.
Subscription & billing
See your plan and usage in Settings → Subscription & Payments.
Subscribed in the iOS app
- Your subscription is billed to your Apple ID and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To cancel or change plan, use Manage subscription in the app, or your Apple ID subscription settings on your iPhone.
- New phone or reinstall? Use Restore purchases on the plans screen.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Subscribed on the web or on Android
- Payments are processed by Stripe and renew automatically.
- To cancel, change plan or update your card, use Manage Billing in Settings → Subscription & Payments or on the web console.
After cancelling, you keep Premium until the end of the period you paid for. See the Terms of Service for details, including the EU right of withdrawal.
Privacy & analytics
We use product analytics (PostHog) only with your consent, to understand which features are used and improve them.
To turn analytics off in the app: open Settings → Privacy & Analytics (in French: Confidentialité & Analyse) and switch off the analytics toggle. This stops product analytics both in the app and on our servers for your account. You can turn it back on at any time. Error reports (Sentry) stay on so we can keep the service reliable.
On the website and the web console, analytics depend on your cookie banner choice. See the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy for the full details.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all your data from the app:
- If you subscribed in the iOS app, cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings first: deleting your Cronic account does not stop Apple billing.
- Open Settings → Security & Sessions (in French: Sécurité & Sessions), scroll to the danger zone and tap Delete account, then confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, sources, briefs, bookmarks, agents and history are erased, connected Google access is revoked and any web subscription billed by Stripe is cancelled. If you can't use the app, email privacy@cronic.team from the address of your account and we will delete it within 30 days. Data we must keep by law (such as billing records) is kept only as long as required. You can also email us to get a copy of your data. If you connected Gmail, you can additionally revoke Cronic's access from your Google Account.
Troubleshooting
Something isn't working
First make sure you have the latest beta build of Cronic (TestFlight or Google Play testing), then close and reopen the app. Your app version and build number are shown in Settings → Help & Support: please include them when you contact us.
My newsletters don't show up
- Check that newsletters are sent or forwarded to your exact Cronic address (shown in your account information).
- If you use Gmail, check the Gmail connection in the app: if Google access expired, reconnect it.
- New content appears at the next update of the source, which can take a little while.
- On the Free plan, you can follow up to 3 sources after the 14-day trial.
I don't receive notifications
- Check that notifications are allowed for Cronic in your phone's settings.
- Check your choices and quiet hours in Settings → Notifications & Email.
- If you haven't opened recent notifications, sending may be paused for 72 hours.
